Description

Damage to the overhead electric wires between Wilmslow and Manchester Airport via Styal means that all lines are blocked. Trains between these stations may be cancelled as a result.

Disruption is expected until 09:30.

Customer advice:

Services between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe via Manchester Airport are being disrupted due to overhead line issues at Styal.

Network Rail staff are on site.

How does this affect my journey?

Train services are unable to run between Wilmslow and Manchester Airport via Styal (in both directions).

Services between Manchester Piccadilly and Crewe will be diverted via Stockport.

What should I do?

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

You can also travel on Avanti West Coast services at no extra cost between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly, and change here for Northern services to Manchester Airport.

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Replacement transport:

Road transport will be operated by RSZ as follows:

  • From Wilmslow to Manchester Airport, calling at Styal, at XX:15 minutes past the hour

  • From Manchester Airport to Wilmslow, calling at Styal, at XX:15 minutes past the hour

Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick-up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on road transport.

Journey times may be extended by up to 20 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
