Description

The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Newcastle and Sunderland. Whilst they do their work, all lines are closed. Trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 19:00.

Network Rail are enroute site.

Customers can travel between Newcastle and Middlesbrough by travelling via Darlington.

You may use your ticket, at no extra cost on the following services:

  • LNER between Newcastle and Darlington

  • TransPennine Express between Newcastle and Darlington, and also between Thornaby and Middlesbrough

  • Tyne & Wear Metro between Newcastle and Sunderland


Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
