Description

Issues with communications systems means that trains running in the Sussex area may be showing as delayed or having not departed their station. As a result, passenger information systems may be incorrect.

This is expected until 10:00.

Customer advice:

Trains across the Sussex area may show as delayed or as not having departed from their origin station. Currently, passenger information systems are unable to track the location of train services within the Sussex area.

If you are travelling this morning, please be aware that journey planners and station information boards will show the booked calling pattern and timings of your train, but will not reflect any delays or where the train currently is in its journey.

Service alterations:

The following changes to services are expected:

  • Services that normally run between Three Bridges and Bedford via Redhill will be suspended

  • Gatwick Express services that normally run between Brighton and London Victoria will be suspended

Please note you may need to use an alternative route to complete your journey. This may take at least 30 minutes longer than usual, so ensure to leave extra time and plan ahead.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

A fault with the communication system which allows journey planners to track the location of trains means that trains may show as delayed on websites, journey planners, and station information boards, despite running to time.

Network Rail engineers are aware of the issue and are working with the Telecoms teams to resolve the fault as quickly as possible.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail real-time Journey Planner.

Compensation:

You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
