Description

The majority of Transport for Wales services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham International will be cancelled on Sunday 2 and Monday 3 August. Some evening / late night trains are still operating and these can be seen below.

Customer advice:

Rail replacement bus services will be operating between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton, calling at Telford and Wellington. These will show in online journey planners.

To help you complete your journey you can use your ticket on the following at no extra cost:

  • CrossCountry between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street / Birmingham International

  • Avanti West Coast between Crewe and Stafford

  • West Midlands Railway between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street / Birmingham International

The following services Transport for Wales services will run between Shrewsbury and Wolverhampton:

Sunday

  • 19:38 Chester to Birmingham International (20:33 from Shrewsbury)

  • 18:25 Holyhead to Birmingham International (21:20 from Shrewsbury)

  • 19:27 Aberystwyth to Birmingham International (21:33 from Shrewsbury)

  • 22:44 Birmingham International to Shrewsbury

  • 23:16 Birmingham International to Chester

  • 23:46 Birmingham International to Shrewsbury

Monday

  • 19:27 Aberystwyth to Birmingham International (21:30 from Shrewsbury)

  • 23:59 Birmingham International to Shrewsbury

Additional information:

Transport for Wales are unable to run their older trains during periods of high temperatures due to ongoing failures with the air conditioning systems of their legacy fleet. They are working with their supply chain to resolve this as soon as possible before the older trains are replaced as part of our £800m investment in brand new trains.
