Description

Storm Boelo has been named by the Met Office. Amber and yellow weather warnings have been issued across Scotland and northern England on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October. TransPennine Express have made some pre-planned alterations to their services north of Carlisle on Sunday 25 October. There may be further changes to service levels across the TransPennine Express network depending on the impact of Storm Boelo.

On both Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 October you are advised to only travel if your journey is essential.

If you do need to travel, you are strongly encouraged to check your journey before travelling and allow extra time where possible. Please note that other operators are also likely to be disrupted on these dates.

Service impact:

Saturday 24 October

There are currently no planned changes to the TransPennine Express timetable. Speed restrictions will be in place across Scotland.

Sunday 25 October

You cannot travel with TransPennine Express between Carlisle and Edinburgh or Glasgow Central on Sunday 25 October because there are no trains running.

TransPennine Express services will only run between Manchester Airport and Carlisle in both directions.

TransPennine Express services between Liverpool Lime Street and Glasgow Central will be cancelled.

Due to the expected weather conditions, no rail replacement transport will be provided.

TransPennine Express strongly recommend you avoid travel on the West Coast Main Line north of Preston. They are running a reduced timetable north of Preston as far as Carlisle further to speed restrictions applied by Network Rail. Fewer trains will run and journeys will take longer. TransPennine Express destinations north of Preston include Carlisle, Lockerbie, Glasgow and Edinburgh. Other train companies will also be affected by these weather warnings, speed restrictions and engineering work.

Ticket easements and refunds:

If you have a ticket dated for travel on Sunday 25 October, you can use it on any TransPennine Express service on Saturday 24, Monday 26 or Tuesday 27 October at no extra cost. You do not need to buy a new ticket.
