Description
The Met Office are advising that heatwave conditions are forecast for parts of England and Wales with temperatures expected to remain high until at least Saturday 27 June.
The hot weather is set to be widespread over England and Wales, and highs of up to 38°C are possible in some areas. There are red and amber weather warnings in place for extreme heat covering parts of England and Wales until Thursday 25 June.
Although TransPennine Express are expecting to run a normal service over this period, you are strongly advised to only travel if essential on Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 June. Services across the network may be subject to short-notice changes and alterations.
Customer advice:
If you hold a ticket for travel on Tuesday 23 June, Wednesday 24 June or Thursday 25 June, you can use it instead to travel on Friday 26 June. This will be at no extra cost to you, and you will not need to change your ticket.
You can also use your ticket to travel earlier in the day on 23, 24 and 25 June - it is recommended that you do so before 12:00 midday when the temperatures are likely to be slightly cooler.
If you decide not to travel on 23, 24 or 25 June, you can claim a full refund with no admin fee charged. You can apply for a refund via the retailer you originally purchased your ticket from.
If you are travelling with an LNER ticket and have replanned your journey between Tuesday 23 June and Friday 26 June, you can use your ticket on connecting TransPennine Express services at no extra cost.
Additional advice to ensure a safe and comfortable journey:
Please carry water with you - you can find water refill stations at all Network Rail managed stations and some other larger stations.
If you feel unwell at the station, please don't board a train, please seek assistance from station staff or use the help point.
