Description

A safety inspection of the track between Edenbridge Town and Uckfield means that all lines are blocked. Trains are unable to run between these stations.

Trains will be revised to run between London Bridge and East Grinstead instead.

This is expected until the end of the day.

Customer advice:

If you are travelling between Oxted and Uckfield, you will need to use an alternative route to travel and allow extra time to arrive at your destination.

The following stations currently have no Southern service:

  • Edenbridge Town

  • Hever

  • Cowden

  • Ashurst

  • Eridge

  • Crowborough

  • Buxted

  • Uckfield

You can use your ticket at no extra cost on:

  • Alternative Southern and Thameslink services between Oxted/ East Grinstead/ East Croydon and Lewes, including via Brighton

  • Southeastern services between London and Tunbridge Wells

  • Brighton & Hove Buses routes 29 / 29B / 29X for Brighton (St Peter’s Church), Moulsecoomb (Brighton University), Falmer, Lewes (Post Office / Law Courts), Uckfield, Crowborough, Eridge, and Tunbridge Wells

  • London Underground services between London terminals

A limited number of rail replacement buses are running between Oxted and Uckfield. Please speak to station staff or press the green emergency button on a help point for further information.

You should leave an additional 60 minutes to complete your journey. Please check station screens, listen to announcements, and check online journey planners for the latest information.

Can you tell me more about the incident?

Southern have received a report of a possible issue with the track in this area. Network Rail's engineers are attending to carry out repairs.

There are various different types of defects, and the first advice usually comes from drivers or other staff travelling through the area. Response staff will check the location which has been specified and find out whether the track is still supported correctly, whether the rails themselves are in the usual condition, and if there are any problems with the fixings and metalwork which attach the rails to the sleepers.
