Description
Lines have reopened following a safety inspection of the track between Barnsley and Wakefield Kirkgate. As service recovers, trains running from Barnsley towards Wakefield Kirkgate may still be cancelled, delayed or revised.
This is expected until approximately 23:00.
What's happened?
Services between Barnsley and Wakefield Kirkgate are currently being disrupted due to a safety inspection of the track.
Network Rail are currently on site and they have advised that the line towards Wakefield Kirkgate can reopen at reduced speed.
How does this affect my journey?
Train services are now able to run from Barnsley towards Wakefield Kirkgate at reduced speed. Services from Wakefield Kirkgate towards Barnsley are able to run normally; however, services may still be disrupted due to the displacement of trains.
Services on the following routes willbe affected by this disruption:
Between Sheffield and Leeds via Barnsley
Between Lincoln Central and Leeds
Between Nottingham and Leeds
Northern services between Sheffield and Leeds via Moorthorpe are not affected.
What should I do?
You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.
Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.
Road transport:
Road transport has been recruited to run as follows:
22:45 from Meadowhall calling at all stops to Wakefield Kirkgate and then setting down as required to Leeds. Two 16 seater minibuses operated by Elite
Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (except for service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport.
Journey times may be extended whilst travelling by road transport.
