Description

A fault with the signalling system in the Wakefield Westgate area means all lines are disrupted.

As a result, trains running between Leeds and Doncaster / Moorthorpe may be delayed by up to 30 minutes, diverted or cancelled.

A special method of working has been put in place to allow some trains to run via Wakefield Westgate. Fewer trains are able to run using this method, and they may be delayed.

Disruption is expected to continue until 13:15.

Advice for CrossCountry customers:

You can use your ticket on the following services, at no extra cost:

  • CrossCountry services between York and Sheffield (in both directions)

  • Northern services via any reasonable route

  • TransPennine Express services via any reasonable route

Advice for LNER customers:

You can use your ticket on the following services, at no extra cost:

  • Northern services between Leeds and Wakefield Kirkgate. There is a free bus between Wakefield Kirkgate and Wakefield Westgate

  • Northern and TransPennine Express services between Leeds and York, to connect with LNER services at York

Advice for Northern customers:

You can use your ticket on LNER services between Leeds and Doncaster, at no extra cost (some of these services are able to divert around the disruption).

Road replacement transport has been requested to operate between Wakefield Westgate and Doncaster / Meadowhall.

Buses will run as follows:

  • Departing Wakefield Westgate at 11:05, calling at all stations to Doncaster (provided by York Pullman)

  • Departing Doncaster at 11:35, calling at all stations to Wakefield Westgate (provided by J&B Travel)

Journey times may be extended by up to 50 minutes whilst travelling by replacement transport.

Services that run between Leeds and Sheffield via Barnsley are not affected by this disruption.
