Description

Some lines have now reopened following a fault on a train in the Wakefield Westgate area. Trains running through this station may still be cancelled, delayed by up to 30 minutes or revised.

Major disruption is expected until 22:00.

Rail replacement buses are in operation between Doncaster, Wakefield Westgate and Leeds.

You may use your ticket, at no extra cost on the following services:

  • CrossCountry between Leeds and York, Please note, CrossCountry are also affected by this disruption

  • Northern services between Doncaster and Leeds / York. Please note, Northern are also affected by this disruption

  • TransPennine Express services between Leeds and York

Please be aware that other operators’ services are also likely to be busy.

Effect on service:

Train services can run between Sheffield and Leeds via Wakefield Westgate (in both directions).

Train services can run between Doncaster and Leeds via Wakefield Westgate (in both directions).

Train services are unable to run between Knottingley and Leeds via Wakefield Westgate (in both directions). These services may be diverted or cancelled.

Alternative travel suggestions:

Customers are advised to travel on diverted services where possible.

LNER services between Doncaster and Leeds - some services will divert to avoid the disrupted area. Please note, LNER are also affected by this disruption.

Any ticket restrictions have been lifted during this disruption.

Road replacement transport:

Road replacement is in operation as follows:

  • 18:50 from Leeds, calling at all stations to Doncaster, provided by J&B Travel

  • 19:30 from Doncaster, calling at all stations to Leeds, 3 x 16 seat vehicles provided by from RSZ Travel

Journey times may be extended by up to 110 minutes whilst travelling by rail replacement transport.
