Description
Some lines have reopened following an earlier points failure between Wigan North Western / Earlestown and Warrington Bank Quay.
Until service fully recovers, some trains operating between these stations will continue to be cancelled, delayed by up to 20 minutes or revised.
Disruption is expected until 19:00.
Avanti West Coast customer advice:
If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.
Northern customer advice:
Train services are unable to run between Earlestown and Chester, in both directions.
Manchester Piccadilly to Chester via Altrincham services are not being affected by this disruption.

Metrolink services between Manchester Victoria - Manchester Piccadilly
Replacement transport:
To further assist you with your journey, road replacement transport will be provided as follows:
A coach operated by Ocean Travel departing Manchester Victoria at 15:30 will call at all stations to Chester
A coach operated by Bestway will depart Chester at 16:15 calling at stations to Manchester Victoria
A coach operated by Bestway will depart Newton-le-Willows at 17:25 calling at Earlestown and Warrington Bank Quay
Please check station information posters for the location of the bus pick up points and be advised that bicycles, e-bikes and dogs (excluding service dogs) are not permitted on replacement road transport. Journey times will be extended by up to 60 minutes when using road replacement transport.
Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including advance and peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Northern services between Chester and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions, please be advised that these services go via Muldsworth and not via Warrington Bank Quay
East Midlands Railway services between Warrington Central and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions
TransPennine Express services between Warrington Central and Manchester Piccadilly in both directions
These arrangements are in place on services until further notice.
There is limited road transport at Warrington Bank Quay and Manchester Piccadilly shuttling between these stations in order to assist customers in completing journeys where possible, at no extra cost. These will arrive at Warrington Bank Quay at approximately 16:15 and at Manchester Piccadilly at approximately 16:00, provided by Marios Coaches.
Road transport will take longer than rail services. Please allow extra time to complete your journey.
