Description

There are speed restrictions in place along some parts of the West Coast Main Line today because of heavy rain. As a result, Avanti West Coast TransPennine Express will run at reduced speeds, resulting in services being cancelled or delayed on some routes.

This is expected to continue until 08:30 on Tuesday 2 December.

Advice for Avanti West Coast customers:

Avanti West Coast services are running at a reduced speed between Motherwell and Lancaster. This may cause delays of up to 35 minutes to your journey.

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on TransPennine Express services between Glasgow Central and Preston in both directions until further notice.

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

TransPennine Express services on the following routes are subject to delay and short notice cancellations:

  • Services between Glasgow Central and Liverpool Lime Street

  • Services between Manchester Airport and Glasgow Central / Edinburgh

What should I do?

If the train you have a ticket for is cancelled, You can use your tickets at no extra cost on the following services in both directions:

  • Alternative TransPennine Express services between Carlisle / Lockerbie and Preston

  • Avanti West Coast between Edinburgh / Glasgow Central and Preston

  • Northern services between Oxenholme Lake District and Manchester Airport

Please be aware that the other operators services are also likely to be busy.
