Between Alexandra Palace and Welwyn Garden City

Description

A safety inspection of the track between Alexandra Palace and Welwyn Garden City means some lines are blocked. As a result, trains running between these stations may be delayed by up to 15 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 22:30.

Customer advice:

You may need to change trains more often than usual to complete your journey and allow extra time to travel.

Services running in the direction towards Welwyn Garden City have been delayed by up to 15 minutes. Trains running in the opposite direction towards London are not being affected.

Trains towards Welwyn Garden City cannot call at the following stations:

  • New Southgate

  • Oakleigh Park

If you are travelling on a train towards Welwyn Garden City, and you want to alight at one of these stops, please continue to New Barnet and change there for a service in the opposite direction.

If you are travelling from these stations towards Welwyn Garden City, please travel in the opposite direction to Alexandra Palace first, and change for a train to your destination.

Travelling from or to New Southgate or Oakleigh Park will take longer than usual. We recommend leaving 20 minutes extra time to arrive at your destination.

There has been a report of a possible issue with the track in this area. Network Rail's engineers will be attending as soon as possible to carry out a detailed inspection.

Response staff will normally check the location which has been specified and find out whether the track is still supported correctly, whether the rails themselves are in the usual condition, and if there are any problems with the fixings and metalwork which attach the rails to the sleepers.
