Description

A failure of the electricity supply between Middlesbrough and Whitby means that all lines are blocked. As a result, trains are unable to run to / from Whitby and will be revised.

Disruption is expected until 18:00.

Customer advice:

Services between Middlesbrough and Whitby are being disrupted due to a failure of the electricity supply.

Network Rail staff are due on site.

What should I do?

Passengers at Grosmont, Sleights, Ruswarp can travel on the next North Yorkshire Moors Railway service toward Whitby.

For passengers at Whitby who require Ruswarp, Sleights and Grosmont can travel on the next available North Yorkshire Moors Railway service.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including advanced restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Replacement transport:

To assist passengers, the following rail replacement transport has been recruited:

  • 15:10 departure from Middlesbrough, calling all stations to Whitby

  • 16:00 departure from Whitby , calling all stations to Middlesbrough

Journey times may be extended by up to 60 minutes whilst travelling by road transport.
