Description

A fault with the signalling system between Crewe and Stockport means that all lines are blocked. As a result, trains running between these stations may be cancelled, delayed by up to 45 minutes or revised.

Disruption is expected until 10:30.

Avanti West Coast customer advice:

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on rail replacement coaches between Wilmslow and Macclesfield in both directions until further notice.

A 16-seater minibus has been requested to pick up passengers in Wilmslow and provide a shuttle service to Macclesfield, returning to Wilmslow afterwards.

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

If you no longer wish to travel because your train's delayed or cancelled, you can request a full refund from where you bought your ticket.

Northern customer advice:

How does this affect your journey?

Train services are unable to run between Crewe and Alderley Edge (in both directions).

Services between Crewe and Manchester Piccadilly will be affected by this disruption.

Northern services between Alderley Edge and Manchester Piccadilly are not affected.

You can travel on the next Northern service to your destination, where available.

Please note that other train operators may also be affected by disruption – please check your whole journey before travelling.

Northern train ticket restrictions have been lifted in the affected areas, including Advance and Peak restrictions, during this disruption. Restrictions will be reinstated once the disruption ends.

Rail replacement transport has been arranged to run by Premier as follows:

  • 08:45 From Alderley Edge to Crewe, calling at Sandbach

  • 09:35 From Crewe to Alderley Edge, calling at Sandbach, Holmes Chapel, Goostrey, Chelford
