Description
The Met Office are forecasting that temperatures will be above average for the time of year this week, with another heatwave anticipated across England and Wales.
Some areas, particularly in southern England and Wales, may see temperatures peaking as high as 38°C midweek. An amber weather warning is in place for extreme heat across parts of central England for Thursday.
This will disrupt routes operated by West Midlands Railway.
Please check before you travel and allow more time for your journey.
Impact to services:
Birmingham Snow Hill
There will be a reduced service on West Midlands Railway services on routes through Birmingham Snow Hill, with Kidderminster - Whitlocks End services cancelled.
Rugeley Trent Valley - Hednesford
Rail replacement transport is running in place of cancelled trains between Rugeley Trent Valley and Hednesford.
Stourbridge Junction - Stourbridge Town
Rail replacement transport is running in place of cancelled trains between Stourbridge Junction and Stourbridge Town.
Advice if you are travelling in the hot weather:
The forecast weather may cause trains to be disrupted. Heat can cause overhead lines to expand and sag, line-side fires and also rails to buckle. Speed restrictions may be in place which can cause delays and cancellations.
Please also carry water with you - you can find water refill stations at all Network Rail managed stations and at some other larger stations.
If you feel unwell at the station, please don't board a train, please seek assistance from station staff or use the help point.
Check before you travel:
You can check your journey for Wednesday 12 August using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner. For journeys on Thursday 13 August please check back later.
For helpful advice if you need to travel on a rail replacement service, including accessibility and bicycle information, please use our Rail Replacement Services page.
You can find the pick-up and drop-off location of rail replacement services by checking station signage or by searching for your station on our Find a Station page.
Please be advised that replacement vehicles may be busier than usual, and you should allow extra time for your journey.
Compensation:
You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey. Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim.
