Description

The Met Office are advising that heatwave conditions are forecast for parts of England and Wales with temperatures expected to remain high until at least Saturday 27 June.

The hot weather is set to be widespread over England and Wales, and highs of up to 38°C are possible in some areas. An amber weather warning has been issued for extreme heat covering parts of England and Wales until Thursday 25 June.

London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway are advising to only travel if it is essential on Wednesday 25 and Thursday 25 June.

A reduced service will be in operation across the whole London Northwestern Railway and West Midlands Railway network on Tuesday 23, Wednesday 24 and Thursday 25 June.

Planned service levels for London Northwestern Railway:

The reduced service will consist of:

  • One train per hour between Birmingham New Street - Northampton - London Euston

  • One train per hour between Birmingham New Street - Crewe - Liverpool Lime Street

  • Two trains per hour between Milton Keynes Central - London Euston (calling at all stations) - additional cancellations are likely on this route

  • Services that start / terminate at Tring will be cancelled

  • A normal service expected on the following routes:

    • Crewe - London Euston

    • Stafford - Crewe (via Stoke on Trent)

    • Bletchley - Bedford (Marston Vale Line)

    • Watford Junction - St Albans Abbey (Abbey Line)

Planned service levels for West Midlands Railway:

The reduced service will consist of:

  • Reduced service on the Cross City Line

  • One train per hour Rugeley Trent Valley - Birmingham New Street - Birmingham International (services will start / terminate at Hednesford between 10:30 - 20:00)

  • One train per hour Wolverhampton - Birmingham New Street - Walsall

  • One train per hour Birmingham New Street - Kings Norton (Camp Hill Line)

  • A normal service is expected on the following routes:

    • Snow Hill lines

    • Birmingham New Street - Shrewsbury

    • Birmingham New Street - Hereford

    • Nuneaton - Leamington Spa
