Description

Lines have now reopened following a points failure at Wolverhampton. However, whilst service recovers, trains will be delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.

Major disruption is expected until 16:45.

Avanti West Coast customer advice:

Trains will not call at Sandwell & Dudley and Wolverhampton.

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on CrossCountry services between Stafford and Coventry in both directions until further notice.

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on London Northwestern / West Midlands Railway services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street in both directions until further notice.

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on Transport for Wales services between Crewe and Birmingham New Street in both directions until further notice.

If your train is cancelled, your ticket is valid on one of the two Avanti West Coast services immediately before your booked train, or one of the two immediately after.

If you no longer wish to travel because your train is delayed or cancelled, you can request a full refund from where you bought your ticket.

CrossCountry customer advice:

Your ticket can be used at no extra cost on the following services:

  • The two CrossCountry services operating before and after your cancelled service

  • West Midlands Railway / London Northwestern Railway services between Wolverhampton and Birmingham New Street

  • Avanti West Coast between Stafford and Coventry

If you decide to travel from a different station due to this disruption and need to return to that station later, you will also be able to use your existing ticket to do this at no extra cost.

Unfortunately, any seat reservations will not be carried over to another train, but Coach B, H and L are the unreserved coaches on CrossCountry services (where available) so please head to them.

Rail replacement transport has been been scheduled to run as follows:

  • 2x JKT International Wolverhampton to Shrewsbury

  • 1 JKT International & 1x Regional Transport Shrewsbury to Wolverhampton

  • 1x Q&S Coaches Wolverhampton to Stafford

  • 1x Q&S Coaches Wolverhampton to Stafford via Penkridge

  • 1x Q&S Coaches Stafford to Wolverhampton

  • 1x Q&S Coaches Stafford to Wolverhampton via Penkridge

  • 2x Wolverhampton to Bilbrook then run to Birmingham New Street calling at all stations

If you chose to drive your car and park at a station on one of the routes below because of this disruption, your rail ticket will be valid to travel back to the same station later in the day to collect your car.

Your ticket can be used, at no extra cost, with the following operators:

  • Alternate London Northwestern Railway services:

    • You can use trains between Birmingham and Crewe, via Wolverhampton and Stafford.

  • Transport for Wales between Crewe and Shrewsbury

  • Avanti West Coast between Birmingham and Crewe, via Wolverhampton and Stafford

Rail replacement transport has been requested to run, more information will follow when confirmed.

The following rail replacement is in place and can be used at no extra cost:

  • Shrewsbury at approximately 14:50 provided by Q&S

  • Cosford at approximately 14:30 provided by Brit Coaches and TNS

  • Wolverhampton at approximately 14:25 provided by JKT and Brit Coaches

  • Birmingham New Street at approximately 14:15 provided by Brit Coaches and Arden

  • Avanti West Coast services between Crewe and Birmingham New Street

  • West Midlands Railway services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham New Street (including rail replacement transport)
