Description

Industrial action by the RMT union on Saturday 23 August and Monday 25 August will impact CrossCountry services on both days.

In addition, CrossCountry anticipate that there will be train cancellations on Sunday 24 August. Those services that do operate are expected to be extremely busy.

Please continue to check your journey before travelling. You can find more details about the level of service operating each day below.

Saturday 23 August:

There will be no CrossCountry services operating on Saturday 23 August. You are strongly advised not to travel, or to travel either side of the bank holiday weekend.

Sunday 24 August:

Although the industrial action is not taking place on this day, cancellations and alterations are still expected. Please check your whole journey before you travel.

Monday 25 August:

A very limited CrossCountry service will operate between 08:00 and 18:00 only. The trains that do run are expected to be busy.

There will also be no CrossCountry service between Birmingham New Street, Reading and the south coast, and no service between Leicester, Cambridge and Stansted Airport. There will only be a very limited service to the south west and north of York.

Additionally, planned engineering work in the West Midlands area will impact the CrossCountry services that do run, meaning some journeys will take longer.

Ticket information:

If your CrossCountry train is cancelled, rescheduled, or significantly disrupted and you decide not to travel, you are entitled to a full refund where no admin fee will be charged. Refunds must be requested from your original retailer. This applies for both tickets if you hold two single tickets for a return journey.

Tickets that are dated for travel on Saturday 23, Sunday 24 and Monday 25 August will be valid for travel on CrossCountry services between Thursday 21 and Wednesday 27 August (inclusive) at no extra cost.

Passenger assistance:

CrossCountry will still operate both booked and un-booked Passenger Assistance services on the affected days for passengers that require this.

More information:

Information on the industrial action is available on the CrossCountry website. This includes a PDF timetable of the limited service operating on Monday 25 August.

Check before you travel:

You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.
