Thursday 23 December

 

Normal service subject to the following engineering work.

Overnight engineering work is taking place all week between Maidenhead and Reading. As a result the following services will not call at Burnham and Taplow. Customers for Burnham and Taplow should travel on rail replacement buses via Slough:

  • 00:34 London Paddington to Reading
  • 05:08 Reading to London Paddington
  • 23:50 London Paddington to Reading
  • 22:52 Didcot Parkway to London Paddington

00:18 Henley-on-Thames to Reading service will terminate at Twyford. A rail replacement bus will run from Twyford to Reading.

Overnight engineering work is taking place between Cardiff Central and Bridgend. As a result the 04:58 Swansea to London Paddington service on Thursday morning will be diverted between Bridgend and Cardiff Central, arriving at Cardiff Central slightly later than normal. The 20:48, 21:48 and 22:48 London Paddington to Swansea services on Thursday night will be diverted between Cardiff Central and Bridgend, departing Bridgend and beyond later than normal.

Overnight engineering work is taking place between Tilehurst and Didcot Parkway. The following services will not call at Pangbourne, and a bus will run between Tilehurst and Pangbourne:

  • 00:45 and 03:54 Oxford to Reading 
  • 23:22 Didcot Parkway to Reading
  • 23:30 London Paddington to Didcot Parkway
  • 23:32 Reading to Didcot Parkway.

Friday 24 December

 

There will be an early shutdown of services on Christmas Eve. Please continue to check your train times carefully.

Early Friday morning engineering work is taking place between Maidenhead and Reading. As a result the following services will not call at Burnham and Taplow. Customers for Burnham and Taplow should travel on rail replacement buses via Slough:

  • 00:34 London Paddington to Reading
  • 05:08 Reading to London Paddington

00:18 Henley-on-Thames to Reading service will terminate at Twyford. A rail replacement bus will run from Twyford to Reading.

Early Friday morning engineering work is taking place between Cardiff Central and Bridgend. As a result the 04:58 Swansea to London Paddington service will be diverted between Bridgend and Cardiff Central, arriving at Cardiff Central slightly later than normal.

Early Friday morning engineering work is taking place between Tilehurst and Didcot Parkway. The 00:45 and 03:54 Oxford to Reading services will not call at Pangbourne, and a bus will run between Tilehurst and Pangbourne.

Saturday 25 December

Train services will start up later than normal.

An amended timetable will operate with most long distance trains to and from London Paddington reduced to hourly services.

Engineering work in the Bristol Parkway area means the following changes will be made:

Trains between London Paddington and Swansea will run to an amended timetable:

  • Services will be diverted between Swindon and Newport, not stopping at Bristol Parkway.
  • Journey times will be extended by around 25 minutes.
  • Trains will stop at Patchway instead of Bristol Parkway
  • Buses will run between Patchway and Bristol Parkway.

Trains between Great Malvern / Worcester and Bristol Temple Meads will be disrupted:

  • Trains will run between Great Malvern / Worcester and Gloucester
  • Buses replace trains between Gloucester and Bristol Temple Meads
  • These buses will stop at Cam & Dursley, Yate and Bristol Parkway
  • Buses will run between Bristol Parkway and Filton Abbey Wood.

Other services:

  • Trains will run between Bristol Temple Meads and Westbury / Weymouth
  • Fewer trains run between Bristol Temple Meads and Weston-super-Mare / Taunton
  • Trains will run to an amended timetable between Cardiff Central and Taunton
  • Trains between Cardiff Central and Portsmouth Harbour will be largely unaffected
  • An hourly service will run between Bristol Temple Meads and Severn Beach

Tuesday 28 December

 

An amended timetable will operate with most long distance trains to and from London Paddington reduced to hourly services.

Engineering work in the Bristol Parkway area means the following changes will be made:

Trains between London Paddington and Swansea will run to an amended timetable:

  • Services will be diverted between Swindon and Newport, not stopping at Bristol Parkway.
  • Journey times will be extended by around 25 minutes.
  • Trains will stop at Patchway instead of Bristol Parkway
  • Buses will run between Patchway and Bristol Parkway.

Most train services will stop running by around 22:30 on New Year's Eve.

An amended timetable will operate with most long distance trains to and from London Paddington reduced to hourly services.

Engineering work in the Bristol Parkway area means the following changes will be made:

Trains between London Paddington and Swansea will run to an amended timetable:

  • Services will be diverted between Swindon and Newport, not stopping at Bristol Parkway.

Saturday 1 January 2022

 

Engineering work will be taking place between Winchester and Southampton Central. As a result, Great Western Railway services will not call at Southampton Central, and will additionally call at Romsey and Fareham. Replacement buses will run between Eastleigh and Southampton Central.

Late night engineering work between Dawlish Warren and Teignmouth will extend journey times after 21:50 between Dawlish and Paignton / Plymouth.

Late night engineering work will be taking place between Westbury and Frome. As a result, the 23:11 Bristol Temple Meads to Frome service will terminate at Westbury. A replacement bus will run from Westbury to Frome.

Late night engineering work will be taking place between Slough and Reading. As a result, the 23:45 Didcot Parkway to London Paddington service will not call at Taplow or Burnham. A replacement bus will run from Slough to Taplow and Burnham.

Sunday 2 January

 

Engineering work will be taking place between Winchester and Southampton Central. As a result:

  • Great Western Railway services will not call at Southampton Central, and will additionally call at Romsey and Fareham. Replacement buses will run between Eastleigh and Southampton Central.
  • 10:34 Bristol Temple Meads to Brighton will divert as above and will then further divert after Cosham to Fratton, Portsmouth & Southsea and Portsmouth Harbour. Customers change at Cosham / Fratton for stations to Brighton. 
  • 17:40 Cardiff Central to Portsmouth Harbour will terminate at Westbury. You should travel by alternative train services.
  • 17:48 Brighton to Bristol Temple Meads will start from Westbury. You should travel by alternative train services.

             

Early morning and late night engineering work is taking place between Earlswood and Gatwick Airport. As a result:

  • 06:03 / 06:57 / 23:03 Reading to Gatwick Airport services will terminate at Redhill
  • 06:11 / 08:11 / 09:15 Gatwick Airport to Reading services will start from Redhill.
  • There will be rail connections between Redhill and Gatwick Airport.

Very early morning engineering work is taking place between Bourne End and Maidenhead. As a result, the 00:12 Marlow to Maidenhead service will terminate at Bourne End. Road transport will operate.

Early morning engineering work between Dawlish Warren and Teignmouth will extend journey times until 09:50 between Dawlish and Paignton / Plymouth.

Morning engineering work will be taking place in the Westbury area. Trains through the area may be amended, and may involve using road transport.

Early morning and late evening engineering work will be taking place between Slough and Reading. Early morning and late evening trains will not call at Burnham. Buses will run between Burnham and Slough to connect with trains.

Late evening engineering work will take place between Didcot Parkway and Oxford. As a result, 21:45 London Paddington to Worcester Shrub Hill service will terminate at Didcot Parkway. A replacement bus will run from Didcot Parkway to Charlbury. There will be rail connection from Charlbury to Worcester Shrub Hill.

Monday 3 January

 

​​​​​​​Early morning and late evening engineering work between Gatwick Airport and Earlswood. As a result:

  • 04:45 Redhill to Gatwick Airport will not run
  • 05:10 Gatwick Airport to Reading will start from Redhill. You can use alternative rail connections between Gatwick Airport and Redhill.
  • 23:33 Reading to Gatwick Airport service will terminate at Redhill. You can use alternative rail connections to travel from Redhill to Gatwick Airport.

 

Engineering work will be taking place in the Westbury area. Some trains through the area may be amended, and may involve using road transport.

Late evening engineering work will be taking place between Slough and Reading. 23:50 London Paddington to Reading service will not call at Burnham or Taplow. Buses will run between Slough and Burnham / Taplow to connect with the train.

Early morning engineering work will take place between Oxford and Didcot Parkway. As a result, 05:00 Oxford to Didcot Parkway will not run. You can complete your journey using later services.
