Chiltern Railways services during Christmas and New Year 2019/20

Please find below a day-by-day summary of the services that Chiltern Railways will be running over the Christmas and New Year Bank Holiday period.

Monday 23 December

 

Normal service.

Tuesday 24 December

 

A weekday timetable will operate, amended from 15:00, with an earlier than usual finish.

Key LAST TRAINS are as follows:

20:07 London Marylebone - Oxford.
20:10 London Marylebone - Birmingham Moor Street & Snow Hill - Stourbridge Junction.
20:43 London Marylebone - Banbury.
20:57 London Marylebone - Aylesbury Vale Parkway (via Amersham).
21:13 London Marylebone - Aylesbury (via High Wycombe).
20:21 Aylesbury - London Marylebone (via Amersham).
20:55 Oxford - London Marylebone.
20:18 Birmingham Moor Street - London Marylebone.
21:39 Stratford-Upon-Avon - Banbury.

Wednesday 25 December

 

No service.

Thursday 26 December

 

A special service of two trains per hour in each direction will operate over the following route, between approximately 08:00 and 20:00:

London Marylebone - Gerrards Cross - Beaconsfield - High Wycombe - Princes Risborough - Haddenham & Thame Parkway - Bicester Village - Oxford Parkway.

No other Chiltern Railways services will operate.

Friday 27 December

 
An amended Saturday timetable will operate.

Saturday 28 December

 

Saturday service.

Sunday 29 December

 

Due to engineering works in the Haddenham & Thame Parkway area, the line between Princes Risborough and Bicester is closed all day. A heavily-amended timetable will operate on all Chiltern Railways routes, and most journeys will be affected. Passengers may need to travel via alternative routes and/or replacement bus services. Some journey times will be considerably longer than usual.

Passengers travelling between London - Banbury and further north are advised to travel via Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Bicester North, in both directions.

Monday 30 December

 

Due to engineering works in the Haddenham & Thame Parkway area, the line between Princes Risborough and Bicester is closed all day. A heavily-amended timetable will operate on all Chiltern Railways routes, and most journeys will be affected. Passengers may need to travel via alternative routes and/or replacement bus services. Some journey times will be considerably longer than usual.

Passengers travelling between London - Banbury and further north are advised to travel via Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Bicester North, in both directions.

Tuesday 31 December

 
An amended Saturday timetable will operate, with additional after-midnight services from London.

Wednesday 1 January 2020

 

An amended Sunday timetable will operate.

Additionally, due to Network Rail engineering works in the Haddenham & Thame Parkway area, the line between Princes Risborough and Bicester is closed after 23:50. The following services are affected:

  • 23:15 London Marylebone - Oxford is CANCELLED
  • 23:30 London Marylebone - Banbury terminates at Princes Risborough. Connecting buses will operate to Haddenham & Thame Parkway, Bicester Village, Oxford Parkway, Oxford, Bicester North and Banbury
  • 00:05 London Marylebone - Banbury terminates at Princes Risborough. A connecting bus will operate to Haddenham & Thame Parkway, Bicester North and Banbury.

Thursday 2 January

 

Normal service.

Due to Network Rail engineering works in the Haddenham & Thame Parkway area, the line between Princes Risborough and Bicester is closed after 23:50. The following services are affected:

  • 23:20 London Marylebone - Banbury is CANCELLED
  • 00:01 London Marylebone - Oxford is CANCELLED
  • 00:05 London Marylebone - Banbury terminates at Princes Risborough. Connecting buses will operate to Haddenham & Thame Parkway, Bicester Village, Oxford Parkway, Oxford, Bicester North and Banbury.
