ScotRail services during Christmas and New Year 2020/2021

Please find below a day-by-day summary of the services that ScotRail will be running over the Christmas and New Year Bank Holiday period.

Normal service.

Thursday 24 December

 

Trains will run as normal until around 19:00, when services will begin to wind down.

Friday 25 December

 

No service.

Saturday 26 December

 

A timetable with reduced frequency will operate on many ScotRail routes.

Sunday 27 December

 

Due to engineering work between Glasgow Queen Street and Croy:

Glasgow Queen Street - Edinburgh (via Falkirk High): A reduced hourly service will be in operation diverting via Cumbernauld. Buses will run between Glasgow Queen Street and Falkirk Grahamston calling at Croy.

Glasgow Queen Street - Edinburgh (via Cumbernauld): An hourly service will be in operation.

Glasgow Queen Street - Alloa: An amended timetable will be in operation between Glasgow Queen Street and Alloa. Replacement buses will be running between Glasgow Queen St and Larbert serving Bishopbriggs, Lenzie and Croy.

Dunblane - Edinburgh: An amended timetable will be in operation.

Glasgow - Dundee / Aberdeen / Inverness: Trains between Glasgow Queen Street and Aberdeen will operate between Stirling and Aberdeen only. Local Alloa services will provide connections at Stirling to / from Glasgow Queen Street. Trains between Glasgow Queen Street and Inverness will operate between Perth and Inverness only. Replacement buses will be running between Glasgow Queen Street and Perth.

Monday 28 December

 

Due to engineering work between Glasgow Queen Street and Croy:

Glasgow Queen Street - Edinburgh (via Falkirk High): A reduced hourly service will be in operation diverting via Cumbernauld. Buses will run between Glasgow Queen Street and Falkirk Grahamston calling at Croy.

Glasgow Queen Street - Edinburgh (via Cumbernauld): A reduced hourly service will be in operation.

Trains will run as normal until around 19:00.

Services will begin to wind down to an early finish after 19:00.

Glasgow Queen Street - Edinburgh (via Falkirk High): A reduced hourly service will be in operation diverting via Cumbernauld. Buses will run between Glasgow Queen Street and Falkirk Grahamston calling at Croy.

No service.

Saturday 2 January

 

Due to engineering work between Glasgow Central and Crossmyloof:

Glasgow Central - Newton / Neilston: All trains cancelled and will be replaced by bus services.

Cathcart Circle: All services will be cancelled.

Glasgow Central - East Kilbride: An hourly service will be running with extended journey times.

Glasgow Central - Barrhead: All services will be cancelled.

Glasgow Central - Kilmarnock: Reduced (two hourly) service between Glasgow and Kilmarnock. These services call additionally at Pollokshaws West, Kennishead, Priesthill, Nitshill and Barrhead and journey times will be extended.

Glasgow Central - Dumfries / Carlisle: A reduced service will be will be running.

Sunday 3 January

 

Due to engineering work between Glasgow Central and Crossmyloof:

Glasgow Central - Newton / Neilston: All trains cancelled and will be replaced by bus services.

Glasgow Central - East Kilbride: An hourly service will be running with extended journey times.

Glasgow Central - Kilmarnock / Carlisle: A reduced service will be running between Glasgow Central and Kilmarnock.
