Southern services during Christmas and New Year 2020/2021
Please find below a day-by-day summary of the services that Southern will be running over the Christmas and New Year Bank Holiday period.

Thursday 24 December
An amended timetable will operate on all routes.
There will be an early close to the service, with the last trains leaving London by around 22:00.
Other changes due to engineering work:
Between 00:05 and 05:00, trains between Clapham Junction and London Victoria will run to an amended timetable.
Until 05:25, trains running between Earlswood and Three Bridges will be retimed.
01:08 Haywards Heath to Eastbourne service will not run. A replacement bus will run between Haywards Heath and Eastbourne.
Friday 25 December
No service.
Saturday 26 December
An amended reduced service will operate with no Southern services on most routes.
Southern services will operate:
London Victoria – Three Bridges
A half-hourly train service will operate calling at London Victoria, Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges.
London Victoria - Brighton
Hourly train service will operate calling at London Victoria, Clapham Junction, East Croydon, Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges, Haywards Heath and Brighton.
London Victoria - Sutton (via West Croydon)
Half-hourly stopping train service will operate between London Victoria and Sutton via West Croydon.
London Victoria - East Croydon
Half-hourly stopping train service will operate between London Victoria and East Croydon.
Sunday 27 December
An amended Sunday service will operate.
Due to engineering work between South Croydon and Gatwick Airport, trains between London Victoria and Reigate will not run. Trains that normally run between Redhill and Tonbridge will run between Reigate and Tonbridge.
Monday 28 December
An amended Saturday service will run.
Due to engineering work:
An amended and reduced service will operate between London Victoria / Clapham Junction and Epsom / East Croydon / Purley.
Trains between London Victoria and Bognor Regis / Portsmouth Harbour / Southampton Central will be diverted and run non-stop between Clapham Junction and Horsham, and so will be unable to call at East Croydon, Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges or Crawley.
Direct services between London Victoria and Brighton will not run. Customers are advised to use alternative Thameslink services between London and Brighton.
Tuesday 29 December
An amended Saturday service will operate.
Due to engineering work:
Trains between London Victoria and Bognor Regis / Portsmouth Harbour / Southampton Central will be diverted and run non-stop between Clapham Junction and Horsham, and so will be unable to call at East Croydon, Gatwick Airport, Three Bridges or Crawley.
Direct services between London Victoria and Brighton will not run. Customers are advised to use alternative Thameslink services between London and Brighton.
Wednesday 30 December
An amended Saturday service will operate.
Due to engineering work:
Trains between London Victoria and Portsmouth Harbour / Bognor Regis / Southampton will be diverted to run via Epsom and will not call at East Croydon, Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges.
Trains between London Victoria and Brighton will not run. Customers may use Thameslink trains between London and Brighton.
From approximately 23:45 until the end of service buses will replace trains between Brighton and Worthing / Chichester.
From approximately 23:55 until the end of service, buses will replace trains between Tulse Hill and Norwood Junction.
Thursday 31 December
An amended Saturday service will operate.
Due to engineering work:
Trains between London Victoria and Portsmouth Harbour / Bognor Regis / Southampton will be diverted to run via Epsom and will not call at East Croydon, Gatwick Airport and Three Bridges.
Trains between London Victoria and Brighton will not run. Customers may use Thameslink trains between London and Brighton.
Friday 1 January 2021
An amended Sunday service will operate.
Due to engineering work, buses will replace trains between Southampton Central and Havant.
Saturday 2 January
An amended Saturday service will operate.
Due to engineering work, trains which normally between Southampton Central and Brighton / London Victoria will run instead between Portsmouth & Southsea and Brighton / London Victoria. Replacement buses will run between Fareham and Havant. Customers can use South Western Railway services between Southampton Central and Havant.
Sunday 3 January
An amended Sunday service will operate.
Due to engineering work:
Trains which normally run between London Victoria and Portsmouth Harbour and between Southampton Central and Portsmouth Harbour / Brighton will run between London Victoria / Southampton and Havant only. Replacement buses will run between Havant and Portsmouth Harbour. Customers may also use South Western Railway trains or buses between Southampton Central and Portsmouth.
Trains will not stop at stations between London Bridge and East Croydon via Sydenham. Customers may use London Buses on routes via Sydenham.
Trains which normally run between London Bridge and East Croydon via Streatham will be extended to run between London Bridge and Caterham / Tattenham Corner.
Trains which normally run between London Victoria and West Croydon will run between London Victoria and Crystal Palace only.
Until approximately 08:15, trains between Brighton and London Victoria will be subject to extended journey times. Buses will replace trains between Brighton and Lewes.
