Thameslink services during Christmas and New Year 2020/2021

Please find below a day-by-day summary of the services that Thameslink will be running over the Christmas and New Year Bank Holiday period.

Wednesday 23 December

 

Due to engineering work, late night trains will not stop at Earlswood and Salfords. Customers can use replacement buses for these stations.

Thursday 24 December

 

An amended timetable will operate on all routes. There will be an early close to the service, with the last trains leaving London by around 22:00.

Friday 25 December

 

No service.

Saturday 26 December

 

No Thameslink service will run, however a limited Southern service will be running between London Victoria and Brighton.

Sunday 27 December

 

An amended Sunday service will operate.

Due to engineering work:

Trains to and from Gatwick Airport will run to an amended timetable and have journey times extended by up to 20 minutes.

There will be no Thameslink trains between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross. Customers should use London Underground between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross. Trains between Cambridge and Brighton and between Peterborough and Horsham are not affected and will run as normal.

Monday 28 December

 

An amended Saturday service will operate.

Due to engineering work:

Trains to and from Gatwick Airport will run to an amended timetable and have journey times extended by up to 20 minutes.

There will be no Thameslink trains between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross. Customers should use London Underground between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross. Trains between Cambridge and Brighton and between Peterborough and Horsham are not affected and will run as normal.

Tuesday 29 December

 

An amended Saturday service will operate.

Due to engineering work:

Trains will run to an amended timetable and have journey times extended by up to 10 minutes after leaving Gatwick Airport. Trains that normally run between Bedford and Gatwick Airport will be extended to run to / from Three Bridges.

There will be no Thameslink trains between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross. Customers should use London Underground between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross. Trains between Cambridge and Brighton and between Peterborough and Horsham are not affected and will run as normal.

Wednesday 30 December

 

An amended Saturday service will operate.

Due to engineering work:

Trains will run to an amended timetable and have journey times extended by up to 10 minutes after leaving Gatwick Airport. Trains that normally run between Bedford and Gatwick Airport will be extended to run to / from Three Bridges.

Trains will run to an amended timetable and have journey times extended by up to 10 minutes after leaving Gatwick Airport. Trains that normally run between Bedford and Gatwick Airport will be extended to run to / from Three Bridges.

Trains will run to an amended timetable to and from London Kings Cross.

Friday 1 January 2021

 

An amended Sunday service will operate.

Due to engineering work:

Trains will only run between Dartford and Rainham. Customers should use other Thameslink trains between Kentish Town and London Bridge and Southeastern services between London Bridge and Dartford.

Trains will run to an amended timetable to and from London Kings Cross.

Saturday 2 January

 

An amended Saturday service will operate.

Due to engineering work:

All day an amended service will run between Dartford and Rainham only. To help you complete your journey, you may use your ticket on Southeastern services (trains and replacement buses) between London and Dartford.

Trains will run to an amended timetable to and from London Kings Cross.

Late night trains to / from Brighton will start / terminate at Haywards Heath, not calling at stations between Haywards Heath and Brighton. Buses will replace trains between Haywards Heath and Brighton.

Sunday 3 January

 

An amended Sunday service will operate.

Due to engineering work:

All day an amended service will run between Dartford and Rainham only. To help you complete your journey, you may use your ticket on Southeastern services (trains and replacement buses) between London and Dartford.

All trains will be diverted between London Blackfriars and East Croydon, not calling at London Bridge. Customers can use London Buses / London Underground to travel between London Blackfriars and London Bridge.

Trains will be diverted between Luton and Sutton (via Wimbledon) and will be subject to increased journey times.

Trains which usually run between London Bridge and Horsham will instead run between London Blackfriars and Horsham, not stopping at London Bridge or Norwood Junction.

Trains which normally run between Bedford and Gatwick Airport will run between Bedford and London Blackfriars only.

Trains between Bedford and Brighton will call additionally at Redhill.

Trains between Cambridge and Brighton will not stop at Balcombe but will additionally stop at Horley and Redhill.

Until 08:30, trains will not run to / from London Kings Cross. Replacement buses will run between Gordon Hill / New Barnet and Finsbury Park and customers can also use London Underground services between Finsbury Park and London Kings Cross. For the rest of the day, trains to and from London Kings Cross will run to an amended timetable.

Until 08:30 on Sunday morning and from 22:30 on Sunday evening, trains to / from Brighton will start / terminate at Haywards Heath, not calling at stations between Haywards Heath and Brighton. Buses will replace trains between Haywards Heath and Brighton.
