London North Eastern Railway services during Christmas and New Year 2020/2021

Please find below a day-by-day summary of the services that London North Eastern Railway will be running over the Christmas and New Year Bank Holiday period.

Wednesday 23 December

 

No engineering work is planned on this day.

Thursday 24 December

 

LNER will run four trains per hour to and from London Kings Cross. Other services will either be cancelled, or will start and terminate at Peterborough instead of London. Trains are expected to be very busy.

Services will cease running earlier than normal in preparation for the Christmas shut down.

Friday 25 December

 

No service.

Saturday 26 December

 

No service.

Sunday 27 December

 

Significant disruption with no services to or from London Kings Cross station. LNER will run north of Peterborough, and will run 4 trains an hour between Peterborough and Stevenage.

At present there is no replacement road transport between Stevenage and London Kings Cross. LNER are advising Do Not Travel to or from London Kings Cross station.

If you’re making an essential journey, you will need to transfer at Peterborough or Stevenage for alternative services to or from London. Alternative routes will likely be very busy and should also be avoided.

Monday 28 December

 

Significant disruption with no services to or from London Kings Cross station. LNER will run north of Peterborough, and will run 4 trains an hour between Peterborough and Stevenage.

At present there is no replacement road transport between Stevenage and London Kings Cross. LNER are advising Do Not Travel to or from London Kings Cross station.

Tuesday 29 December

Thursday 31 December

 

A reduced service will run to and from London Kings Cross. Trains are expected to be very busy.

Friday 1 January 2021

 

A reduced service will run to and from London Kings Cross.

Also, there will be no services running between Edinburgh and Glasgow Central, Aberdeen or Inverness. This is due to the New Years Day shutdown in Scotland.

Saturday 2 January

 

A reduced service will run to and from London Kings Cross. Trains are expected to be very busy.

Also, due to late night engineering work between Newark and Peterborough:

20:15 Leeds to London Kings Cross will not run.
20:25 Lincoln to London Kings Cross will not run.
20:30 London Kings Cross to Leeds will not run.

21:00 London Kings Cross to Newcastle will start from Doncaster.

22:00 London Kings Cross to Leeds will depart at 20:57 and is diverted between Peterborough and Doncaster via, but not calling at, Lincoln. A replacement bus will run from Peterborough to Grantham, Newark North Gate and Retford.

Sunday 3 January

 

A reduced service will run to and from London Kings Cross. Trains are expected to be very busy.
