Great Western Railway between London Paddington and Cardiff Central / Swansea / Carmarthen

Engineering work is taking place between Severn Tunnel Junction and Cardiff Central, closing some lines.

Great Western Railway trains will be retimed to run up to 6 minutes later than usual from Newport towards Cardiff Central / Swansea / Carmarthen.

Trains will also be retimed to run up to 8 minutes earlier than usual from Carmarthen / Swansea / Cardiff Central towards Newport.

Project Information:

Network Rail are electrifying the line between London and Cardiff – a major part of the Railway Upgrade Plan. This will result in the introduction of bi-mode trains – trains that can run on electric and diesel – providing extra seats and faster services for thousands of passengers and a quieter and greener environment.
