Grand National Festival

The Grand National Festival is a major event in the horse racing calendar, held annually at the Aintree Racecourse in Liverpool. The highlight is the Grand National steeplechase race on Saturday, over 4 miles long and one of the most demanding in the world.

Aintree Station is directly opposite the racecourse.

What's happening with the trains?

Merseyrail are running a 7½ minute service between Liverpool city centre (Liverpool Central / Moorfields) and Aintree station before and after the races. 

Northern are running extra services on Saturday to get you home after the Grand National - 20:04 Liverpool Lime Street to St Helens Central, 21:04 Liverpool Lime Street to Manchester Oxford Road. A number of other trains will have extra carriages.
