Engineering work is taking place between Thornaby and Stockton / Darlington / Northallerton closing all lines.


From 20:00 Saturday until 10:00 Sunday

Rail replacement road transport will operate between York and Darlington.

Grand Central

Trains are diverted between Sunderland and Northallerton and will not call at Hartlepool and Eaglescliffe. Replacement buses will run between Hartlepool and Northallerton calling at Eaglescliffe.



After 20:00, buses will replace trains between York and Darlington, calling at Northallerton.


Until 10:00, LNER services towards London will not run between Newcastle and York, with train services starting at York. The first train to run will be the 10:00 Newcastle to York service.

The 08:30 Leeds to Edinburgh service will start from Darlington at 09:36.


Replacement buses will run between Middlesbrough and Hartlepool / Darlington.

TransPennine Express


To / from Middlesbrough:

Until around 19:15, TransPennine Express services will be diverted to run to / from Darlington. Replacement buses will run between Northallerton and Middlesbrough. After this, services will terminate at York. Replacement buses will run between York and Middlesbrough.

To / from Newcastle:

From 19:00, services from Newcastle towards York will be replaced by buses. From 20:00, services from York to Newcastle will be replaced by buses.


Replacement buses will run between Northallerton and Middlesbrough.

No TransPennine Express services will call at Thirsk. Customers should travel via Northallerton for replacement buses between Northallerton and Thirsk.
