Station improvement work is taking place at Sheringham station, closing all lines to the station. This work is being scheduled in order to allow new trains to call at Sheringham in the future.

The re-opening of the rail line between Sheringham and Cromer has been put back to Wednesday 22 May.

Replacement buses will run between Cromer and Sheringham until the end of the day on Tuesday 21 May.

You can find timetables for the buses here.

Why has the work been extended?

The normal timetable was meant to resume on Monday 6 May, however, a fault was discovered with a batch of beams supplied as part of the replacement platform structure. There have also been issues with the signalling system, which need to be rectified before the line can reopen.

This means that part of the project will not be ready on time and normal train services will not now be able to restart until Wednesday 22 May.

In the meantime, the effective alternative arrangements, which involve a replacement bus service between Sheringham and Cromer (and trains between Cromer and Norwich) will continue.

Check before you travel:

The journey planner is not currently showing the buses. However, buses are timed to connect with the trains arriving and departing Cromer. A timetable can be found here.

You can find the location of your bus replacement by checking station signs or by searching for your station on our station information pages

Replacement Bus Travel Advice:
