Description

London Kings Cross station currently carries 33.8 million passengers per year, and is a major hub for both local and long distance train services. Major upgrade work will take place, upgrading and simplifying the track layout around the station for the first time in 40 years. Two new lines will also be added, increasing the number of services that can run to / from the station, as well as allowing for faster train services

You are advised NOT TO TRAVEL where possible and instead travel on Thursday 22, Friday 23 or Tuesday 27 August for this weekend.

On Saturday and Sunday, there will be NO TRAINS between Peterborough / Cambridge and London Kings Cross / London St Pancras International and also to / from Moorgate.

All Grand Central services are cancelled and Hull Trains will run a reduced service which will be diverted to run to and from London St Pancras International.

For essential travel, a limited bus service will run between Peterborough and Hitchin, between Hitchin and Potters Bar, between Letchworth Garden City and Cambridge and between Stevenage and Enfield Chase. Some buses will also run between Potters Bar and Cockfosters / Oakwood for London Underground services to / from London. Please use the map provided to view these alternative routes. Some of these buses are not yet showing in the journey planner.

Buses will also run between Peterborough and Bedford, providing an alternative route to and from London via Bedford on Thameslink services. These buses are showing in the journey planner.

Trains on other routes are expected to be extremely busy and you should avoid travelling where possible. For example on East Midlands Trains or Thameslink services into London St Pancras International from Sheffield, Derby, Nottingham, Bedford or Luton. Additionally East Midlands Trains services are expected to be busier than usual between Grantham, Peterborough and Ely.
