Changes to train times

August Bank Holiday Summary

August Bank Holiday Travel Summary 2019

Bank Holiday weekends are a time when, traditionally, a considerable amount of improvement and engineering work is undertaken on Britain's rail network. This is because the railway is up to 50% quieter than usual over Bank Holidays, so doing work at this time of year minimises the impact on customers.

Network Rail will be carrying out improvement and essential engineering work on parts of the railway network over the August Bank Holiday (Saturday 24 to Monday 26 August).

The following major engineering work is taking place:

Although most of the country's services will remain unaffected, there will be significant changes to some routes (especially those listed above). So we advise customers to plan ahead, please check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner

You can find more information on what work Network Rail are undertaking by following this link. You can also check here for details on all other engineering work taking place, searching by date of travel or by train operator.

You can find the best value fare for your journey using our Cheapest Fare Finder. Information on advance tickets and when you can buy them is available here.
