CrossCountry between Penzance and Newcastle / Edinburgh / Glasgow Central / Aberdeen

Grand Central London Kings Cross and Sunderland

LNER between London Kings Cross / Leeds and York / Newcastle / Edinburgh / Glasgow Central / Aberdeen / Inverness

TransPennine Express between Liverpool Lime Street and Newcastle / Edinburgh, also between Manchester Airport and Middlesbrough

Engineering work is taking place between York and Darlington, closing some lines.


Trains between Reading / Birmingham New Street and Newcastle will start from York.

Trains to / from Scotland will be amended, with southbound departures from Newcastle leaving a few minutes earlier than usual.

Grand Central

Trains will run to an amended timetable.

The 14:12 / 18:12 Sunderland to London Kings Cross are replaced by buses between Sunderland and Hartlepool.

The following trains will not run:

  • 12:12 Sunderland to London Kings Cross
  • 16:53 London Kings Cross to Sunderland


Trains will be reduced to 2 an hour and will take approximately 30 minutes longer between York and Darlington, other services will be cancelled.

TransPennine Express

It is not yet known how TransPennine Express are affected by this engineering work
