Description

Engineering work is taking place in the Liverpool Lime Street area, closing the lines:

  • via Runcorn from Saturday to Monday
  • via Hunts Cross all day Saturday and Sunday (extended to Warrington Central until 13:00 on the Sunday)
  • via Huyton from overnight on Saturday and all day on Sunday 

Avanti West Coast

On Saturday and Monday, trains will be diverted via Warrington Bank Quay and will not call at Runcorn. However on Sunday no trains will run to / from Liverpool Lime Street.

If you are travelling to Runcorn you will need to use a replacement bus that runs between Chester, Runcorn and Liverpool South Parkway and may need a change of train at either Crewe or Chester. 

On Sunday, as there will be no direct trains between London and Chester either, to get Liverpool Lime Street you should use the following route:

  • Trains between Crewe and Chester.
  • Buses between Chester and Liverpool South Parkway.
  • Merseyrail between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool.

Avanti West Coast are also affected by engineering work in the Wolverhampton area.

East Midlands Railway

On Saturday, East Midlands Railway are not affected by this engineering work.

On Sunday, trains will not run between Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street. A direct bus service will run between Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street.

On Monday, trains will be diverted between Manchester Piccadilly and Liverpool Lime Street via and calling additionally at Newton-le-Willows. 

Buses will run between Newton-le-Willows and Widnes calling at Warrington Central to connect with the trains.

London Northwestern Railway

From Saturday to Monday, the train service that normally runs between Birmingham New Street and Liverpool Lime Street will not operate. 

Customers should use other trains between Birmingham New Street and Crewe.

Replacement buses will run between Crewe and Liverpool South Parkway. 

Customers should then use Merseyrail trains between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Lime Street.

London Northwestern Railway are also affected by engineering work in the Wolverhampton area.

Northern

On Saturday, Northern are not affected by this engineering work.

On Sunday until 13:00, buses will replace trains between Warrington Central and Liverpool Lime Street. After 13:00 and all day Monday, buses will replace trains between Hunts Cross and Liverpool Lime Street.

Northern are also affected by engineering work at various locations in the North West. Further information can be found here.

TransPennine Express

On Saturday, the 19:30 Edinburgh to Liverpool Lime Street service will terminate at York.

On Sunday, buses will replace trains between Manchester Victoria and Liverpool Lime Street. Customers travelling to / from Lea Green or Newton-le-Willows should use other operators services.

Additionally, some trains to / from Edinburgh will be amended to start / terminate at Huddersfield / York / Newcastle.

On Monday, some trains before 06:15 will be amended, and will start at alternative stations. Customers should use later trains.

Transport for Wales

From Saturday to Monday, buses will replace trains between Chester and Liverpool South Parkway. Customers should use Merseyrail trains between Liverpool South Parkway and Liverpool Lime Street.
