TOC(s) affected

Northern are now operating a regular timetable, whilst still maintaining social distancing and following current government guidelines.

You can find the current timetables for each route here. This timetable is expected to be in place until December 2021.

North west routes:

From Monday 2 August, train services in the North West on some routes will be temporarily changing as Northern introduce a reduced timetable in response to the effects of coronavirus and the number of train crew being available. This will help to ensure Northern run a more reliable timetable and provide you with more certainty on which trains will run.

The following routes will be affected:

  • Liverpool - Manchester Airport
  • Lancaster - Morecambe
  • Preston - Manchester Victoria
  • Manchester Piccadilly - Buxton
  • Manchester Piccadilly - New Mills Central
  • Barrow-in-Furness - Carlisle
  • Barrow-in-Furness - Manchester Airport
  • Blackpool North - Liverpool Lime Street via Wigan

You can view the temporary timetables here

Advice on face coverings:
In line with government guidance, you are no longer required by law to wear a face covering. However, please respect others and, unless exempt, wear a face covering in crowded spaces throughout your journey.

Advice from Northern on travelling with confidence on their services can be found here.

Check before you travel:
You can check your journey using the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

When planning your journey, please check the latest government advice as restrictions may be in place. You can find more information about this here.

Please be aware that train schedules may change at short notice. Your journey may also be subject to alteration due to engineering work, particularly on weekends and late night / early morning. Please check your journey as close as possible to the time of travel.
