Northern are operating a reduced timetable, in line with current passenger demand and government guidelines. The revised timetable can be found here.

Please travel safe. If you do travel by National Rail, please consider travelling at quieter times, carry hand sanitiser and follow social distancing guidelines. You must also wear a face covering, unless you are exempt.

What advice and information is available on crowding and social distancing?

Capacity on Northern trains is significantly limited and measures have been put in place to encourage social distancing. If you choose to travel, please remember to:

  • Buy your ticket online or pay by contactless where possible
  • Respect the social distancing rules   
  • Follow the instructions at stations and of staff 
  • Wear a face covering, unless you have a medical exception that prevents you from doing so
  • Take your face covering and litter with you  
  • Wash your hands before and after your journey  
  • Avoid rush hour and travel at quieter periods where possible
  • Allow extra time for your journey

  

Manchester Piccadilly - Rose Hill Marple Line Closure:

As a result of the pandemic, a reduced service is running between Manchester Piccadilly and Rose Hill Marple from Monday 14 September until Monday 14 December.
