TOC(s) affected
East Midlands Railway;

East Midlands Railway, along with the rest of the rail industry, is working to support efforts to minimise the spread of coronavirus and to keep services running for necessary travel.

Please follow the latest advice from government and public health officials and please continue to keep services clear for those who need them the most.

If it is necessary for you to travel by National Rail, you must wear a face covering (unless you are exempt), try to travel off-peak, keep a 2-metre distance from others, and carry hand sanitiser or wash your hands.

Local lockdown restrictions - Leicester

On Monday 29th June, the Government announced an extension to lockdown restrictions in Leicester due to a continuing rise in Covid-19 cases. East Midlands Railway will continue to provide a vital service for key workers and to support essential journeys. This will remain the case in Leicester. Additional information, announcements and staff are available to help provide any support and guidance our customers need.

How is this affecting the train service?

East Midlands Railway are operating a reduced timetable to ensure that vital train services are available for key workers, or those who cannot work from home and have no alternative way of travelling.

The revised timetable and more details can be found here.

Customers are advised to plan their journeys online where possible. To help customers with maintaining social distancing on the their services, East Midlands Railway have released a Seat Finder tool which shows how crowded trains are across their network. Please click here to visit the Seat Finder page.

What advice and information is available on crowding and social distancing?

Social distancing measures will effectively cut the number of customers allowed on East Midlands Railway trains by up to 90 per cent – so it’s even more important that people make only necessary journeys. Please check journey planners before you travel and avoid travelling at peak times.

The following stations have one-way systems in place:

Leicester: Please use the front of the station to enter and the northern footbridge leading to the car park to exit.

Peterborough: Between 06:00 and 20:00, there is a one-way system in place. To enable easier social distancing, you can enter and exit the station at different points. Please follow the signs or ask a member of staff if you are unsure.
