New platform at Aberdare station

The brand-new Platform 2 is now open. We’re working to install a Pay As You Go card validator at the new platform. As this isn’t quite ready yet, we encourage passengers traveling to Aberdare who need to tap off at the end of their journey to stay on the train and get off at Platform 1 (the original station platform).

A Pay As You Go validator is located next to the station ticket office and at the end of the access ramp.

Temporary reduction of car park spaces

We’ll be installing a purpose-built toilet facility at Aberdare station. To safely install the toilet pod, we will need to use a crane, which will be stored in a compound located in the Aberdare station car park. We will be taking up approximately 25 parking spaces in the car park starting from Tuesday 22 July. The compound will remain in place until early October.
