The Duo gives you one return train ticket, plus a second for half the price when two adults travel together on selected routes.

Two adults will only pay half the price on their second ticket when travelling together.

The routes where this ticket is available and conditions per route can be found on the Northern website.

Please note, if a ticket is routed 'Northern only' it cannot be used on any other participating operators services.

Purchase Details

You can purchase a Duo ticket online or from ticket offices at any staffed train station.

If two adults are travelling together you will automatically be offered a ticket when buying online.

At a staffed station, or on a train, you should ask for a Duo ticket and the staff at the ticket office or on-train conductor will provide a ticket to your chosen destination if available. The Duo offers a full price return ticket and the second adult return ticket at half price when two adults travel together and return the same day on selected routes.

You can travel across many routes on the Northern network with a Duo.

In general, tickets are valid from 09:30 on Mondays to Fridays; with some valid from 08:30 or 09:00 on certain routes. Within the Greater Manchester and West Yorkshire areas there is also a restriction between 16:01 and 18:29 - see Northern's website for further details.

Duo tickets are valid at anytime at weekends and Bank Holidays.

Duo's are valid for a break of journey on both the outward and the return portion of the tickets.
