A flexible Rover ticket that covers travel on trains and a selection of coach services throughout the West and North Highlands.

The Highland Rover entitles holders to unlimited travel on the following services:

Rail - ScotRail:

  • Glasgow - Oban / Fort William / Mallaig

  • Inverness - Kyle of Lochalsh

  • Inverness - Wick / Thurso

  • Inverness - Aberdeen

  • Inverness - Aviemore

Coach - Scottish Citylink / West Coast Motors

  • Oban / Fort William - Inverness

Coach - Stagecoach in the Highlands

  • Thurso - Scrabster   

Rail Discounts

  • Strathspey Steam Railway: 10% discount on all full standard fares

  • Keith & Dufftown Railway: 10% discount on all full standard fares

Ferry Discounts

  • Northlink Ferries: 20% discount on seated Standard fares purchased on the day of sailing on the following routes: Scrabster - Stromness, Aberdeen - Lerwick, Aberdeen -Kirkwall - Lerwick

Booking Conditions

Refunds are subject to a £10 administration fee for each unused ticket surrendered before the first date of travel.

  • Valid for any 4 out of 8 consecutive days travel

  • Anytime - except on trains arriving before 0900 Monday to Fridays at Aberdeen and Inverness

  • Anytime weekends and bank holidays

  • Valid on ScotRail train services only

  • Standard National Railcard discounts apply

  • 50% discount for children aged 5-15, under 5's travel free

  • Valid for travel in Standard Class only

  • Upgrades to First Class are not permitted

  • Refunds are available subject to a £10 administration fee on unused tickets surrendered before the first date of outward travel

Passengers Information

When a passenger needs to self validate a Rover ticket, the date of travel should be completed in black ink using numerical values only for 'Day' and 'Month' eg 07 09 for travel on 7th September.

The Rover will need to be validated before the first journey on that day commences.
