Discounted rail travel for students.
The Student Connect card offers discounted season tickets for rail travel to all students aged between 16 and 17 years old in full time education.
If you turn 18 during the academic year, then you can continue to use the card to buy discounted season tickets until the end of that academic year.
It entitles the card holder to purchased reduced rate season tickets (minimum of a month up to a year) for journeys on Great Northern and Thameslink trains in the specified area.
There are two different Student Connect schemes, as below:
Cambridgeshire Student Connect which offers a 50% discount for travel in this area.
Student Connect which offers a 34% discount for travel in this area.
Passengers aged 16 or 17 may prefer to buy a 16-17 Saver card which as well as giving 50% discount on most season tickets, also gives 50% discount on most other rail journeys throughout England and Wales, and stations in Scotland served by LNER, CrossCountry, TransPennine Express and Avanti West Coast.
Weekly season tickets do not qualify for the discount.
An alternative for passengers wishing to buy weekly season tickets is instead to buy a 16-17 Saver card. More information is available here.
You can find more information for both Student Connect schemes and the full Terms & Conditions here.
You will need to complete an online application form for your Student Connect card.
