Saturday 2 May

Changes to some services to and from London Victoria

Due to engineering work between London Victoria, Clapham Junction and Balham, a reduced train service will run between London Victoria and Clapham Junction / East Croydon. The following Southern service changes will be made:

  • Clapham Junction - Watford Junction: No Southern trains will run. You can use your ticket at no extra cost to travel to / from London Euston / Willesden Junction via Southern, London Underground and London Overground services, and on London Northwestern Railway and London Overground (Lioness line) services between London Euston and Watford Junction

  • Battersea Park station: Trains travelling towards London Victoria will not be able to call at Battersea Park. Customers travelling from Battersea Park towards London Victoria should travel to Clapham Junction, then change for a train back towards London Victoria. Customers for Battersea Park should travel on to London Victoria, then catch the next train back to Battersea Park

  • London Victoria - Hastings / Eastbourne / Littlehampton: Trains will be diverted to run between London Bridge and Hastings / Eastbourne / Littlehampton

  • London Victoria - Reigate: Trains will be amended to run between Redhill and Reigate only. Please use alternative Southern or Thameslink trains to travel between London and Redhill

  • London Victoria - London Bridge: No direct trains will run. Trains will instead run between London Victoria and West Croydon via Crystal Palace

  • London Victoria - Uckfield: Trains will run between East Croydon and Uckfield only

You can use your paper ticket at no extra cost on the following services:

National Rail ticket acceptance at no extra cost will be in place between:

  • London Euston and Watford Junction (London Northwestern Railway)

  • London Waterloo and Clapham Junction (South Western Railway)

Paper ticket acceptance will be in place at no extra cost on London Underground / Overground trains:

  • London Euston – Watford Junction (Lioness line)

  • Clapham Junction – Willesden Junction (Mildmay line)

  • Crystal Palace – Canada Water (Windrush line)

  • Vauxhall / Victoria – Euston (Victoria line)

  • Victoria – Shepherds Bush (Circle and Central line)

  • Victoria – West Brompton (District line)

  • Oxford Circus – Harrow & Wealdstone (Bakerloo line)

  • London Bridge – Canada Water (Jubilee line)

Paper rail tickets will also be accepted at no extra cost on the following London Bus routes:

  • Victoria - Battersea Park (Bus route 44)

  • Battersea Park - Clapham Junction (Bus route 156 & 344)

Changes to services between Three Bridges and Brighton / Lewes / Hove

Due to engineering work closing the lines all day between Three Bridges and Brighton, the following changes will be made to Southern services:

No trains will run between Three Bridges and Brighton. However, direct Southern trains will run between London Victoria and Brighton via a diversionary route (through Horsham, Littlehampton and Hove), with extended journey times.

Buses will replace trains between Three Bridges and Lewes, between Haywards Heath and Plumpton, and between Plumpton and Lewes.

Buses will replace trains between Three Bridges and Preston Park, and between Balcombe and Brighton.

Tickets will also be accepted at no extra cost on Southeastern trains between Hastings and London Bridge.

Buses will be replacing trains between Hastings and Ashford International

Due to engineering work, buses will be replacing trains all day between Hastings and Ore, and between Hastings and Ashford International.

Amended service to and from Sutton

Due to engineering work, no Southern trains will run between Balham and Sutton via Mitcham Junction.

Train services between London Victoria and Dorking will be diverted between Balham and Sutton (running non-stop via West Croydon).

Replacement buses will run between Streatham Common and Sutton, calling at Mitcham Eastfields, Mitcham Junction, Hackbridge and Carshalton. Journey times will be increased when using replacement buses.

Monday 4 May - Early May Bank Holiday

Amended Southern service on Early May Bank Holiday Monday

As a result of the Bank Holiday, Southern will run an amended train service all day on Monday 4 May.

After 22:30: Late night service changes to Chichester

Due to late night engineering work between Barnham and Chichester, the following service changes will be made:

  • 22:35 London Victoria to Chichester train will terminate at Barnham. A replacement bus will run from Barnham to Chichester

  • 23:18 London Bridge to Chichester train will terminate at Littlehampton. A replacement bus will run from Littlehampton to Chichester

After 22:30: Buses will replace trains between Oxted and East Grinstead / Uckfield

Due to late night engineering work, after 22:30 buses will replace trains between Oxted and East Grinstead, and between Oxted and Uckfield. Some buses will run to and from East Croydon in order to help connect with trains to and from London.

After 23:30: Buses will be replacing trains between Redhill and Tonbridge

Due to late night engineering work, after approximately 23:30 until the end of service, buses will replace trains between Redhill and Tonbridge.

After 23:30: Buses will be replacing trains between Lewes and Seaford

Due to late night engineering work, after 23:30 buses will replace trains between Lewes and Seaford.

Late May Bank Holiday Travel Advice

Saturday 23 May

Changes to services to and from East Grinstead and Uckfield

Due to engineering work closing the lines between South Croydon and Oxted, buses will be replacing trains between:

  • Purley and East Grinstead via Upper Warlingham and Oxted

  • Oxted and East Grinstead via Hurst Green, Lingfield and Dormans

  • Oxted and Crowborough via Hurst Green, Edenbridge Town, Hever, Cowden, Ashurst and Eridge

  • Crowborough and Uckfield via Buxted

  • Upper Warlingham and Woldingham

Sanderstead and Riddlesdown will have no train or replacement bus service for nearly all of this closure. If you are travelling to / from Sanderstead, you are advised to use Purley Oaks station and customers travelling to / from Riddlesdown are advised to use Purley station. Paper tickets will also be accepted on TfL London Buses at no extra cost on routes 403 (South Croydon – Sanderstead) and 412 (South Croydon – Riddlesdown – Purley).

Tickets for journeys on the Uckfield line will also be accepted on Southeastern trains between London Bridge and Tunbridge Wells at no extra cost.

Changes to services to and from East Grinstead and Uckfield

Due to engineering work closing the lines between South Croydon and Oxted, buses will be replacing trains between:

Sanderstead and Riddlesdown will have no train or replacement bus service for nearly all of this closure. If you are travelling to / from Sanderstead, you are advised to use Purley Oaks station and customers travelling to / from Riddlesdown are advised to use Purley Station. Paper tickets will also be accepted on TfL London Buses at no extra cost on route 403 (South Croydon – Sanderstead) and 412 (South Croydon – Riddlesdown – Purley).

Tickets for journeys on the Uckfield line will also be accepted on Southeastern trains between London Bridge and Tunbridge Wells at no extra cost.

Buses will be replacing trains between Barnham and Arundel / Angmering

Due to engineering work, buses will be replacing trains all day between:

  • Barnham and Arundel

  • Barnham and Angmering via Littlehampton

Trains will run to an amended timetable between Arundel / Angmering and London Victoria, and between Angmering and Brighton. Trains will also run to an amended timetable between Portsmouth Harbour and Bognor Regis.

No Southern trains will run to and from Southampton. You can use your ticket on South Western Railway trains between Portsmouth and Southampton Central at no extra cost.

Changes to services through East Croydon

Due to engineering work, the following service changes will be made:

  • London Victoria - Gatwick Airport / Brighton / other south coast destinations: Trains will run to an amended timetable with extended journey times

  • Tulse Hill - East Croydon via Streatham: Trains will be diverted and run to and from West Croydon

  • London Victoria - Reigate: Trains will be amended to run between Redhill and Reigate only. Please use alternative Southern or Thameslink trains at no extra cost to travel between London and Redhill

Until 08:00: Changes to trains between Clapham Junction and London Victoria / Shepherds Bush

Due to early morning engineering work, the following service changes will be made:

No Southern trains will run between Clapham Junction and Shepherds Bush. You should travel by later trains instead.

Trains towards London Victoria will not call at Battersea Park:

  • If you are travelling from Battersea Park towards London Victoria, you should travel to Clapham Junction, then change for a train back towards London Victoria

  • If you are travelling to Battersea Park from Clapham Junction, then you should travel to London Victoria and then catch the next train back to Battersea Park

A few early morning replacement buses will run between Battersea Park and London Victoria / Clapham Junction in order to help connections with early trains.

Monday 25 May - Late May Bank Holiday

Amended Southern service on Late May Bank Holiday Monday

As a result of the Bank Holiday, Southern will run an amended train service all day on Monday 25 May.

Changes to services to and from East Grinstead and Uckfield

Due to engineering work closing the lines between South Croydon and Oxted, buses will be replacing trains between:

  • Purley and East Grinstead via Upper Warlingham and Oxted

  • Oxted and East Grinstead via Hurst Green, Lingfield and Dormans

Due to engineering work in the Portsmouth area, an amended Southern train service will run between London Victoria and Havant only.

You can use South Western Railway replacement buses between Havant and Portsmouth Harbour at no extra cost.

After 22:30: Buses will replace trains between Hastings and Ashford International

Due to late night engineering work, after approximately 22:30, buses will replace trains between Hastings and Ore / Ashford International.

After 23:45: Changes to services between Brighton and Worthing / Littlehampton

Due to late night engineering work, after approximately 23:45, the following changes will be made:

  • Trains between London Victoria and Worthing will be diverted to terminate at Brighton

  • Replacement buses will run between Brighton / Hove and Worthing / West Worthing / Littlehampton
