Travel by Train to the British F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone

The F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone: high-octane days, epic nights. Travel by train to a 4-day festival unlike any other, where speed meets sound, and the unbelievable becomes unforgettable

The British F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone: Thursday 3 to Sunday 6 July 2025

One of the most anticipated events on the British sporting calendar, the Formula One British Grand Prix motor racing event will take place at the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire during July. The excitement builds from the opening on Thursday, through practice on Friday and Saturday, qualifying on Saturday and the F1 race itself on Sunday. There’s also plenty of other action taking place on and off the track.

For last year’s event it was reported that the 4-day attendance at Silverstone was 480,000, with 164,000 in attendance on the Sunday race day. With such big numbers heading for the Circuit, why not consider travelling to the event by train this year.

You can use the train to travel to and from the event

Situated in the heart of England, the Silverstone circuit is literally miles away from the nearest railway station!

But this year it’s never been easier to arrive by train, as Silverstone now offer bus transfer services from the following train stations only (weve called them Silverstone transfer stations). The buses will be running on the event days from Thursday until Sunday. For Silverstone transfer station locations and directions, click on the links below.

On arrival at the Silverstone transfer station of your choice, simply jump on a designated shuttle bus, which drops you 2 minutes from gates 1 or 19 at the Silverstone Circuit.

Buses leave the above Silverstone transfer stations on each of the four event days from at least an hour before the Silverstone gates open through to late afternoon. Buses leave Silverstone from 16:30 up to at least 30 minutes after the main stage activity finishes.

Which railway station should I travel to?

Its your choice, simply select your preferred Silverstone transfer station from the above options. When making your choice, you may prefer the nearest transfer station to where you live, or the cheapest transfer station to travel to, or another preference such as first class seat availability.

You can use the National Rail journey planner to plan your travel from your local station to your preferred Silverstone transfer station. Please be aware that the bus transfers between those stations and Silverstone only run at certain times during the day, so please plan your journey accordingly.

What travel tickets do I need to buy?

Youll need to buy train tickets to make the train journey and a Silverstone bus ticket to get to and from the circuit (there isnt a combined train and bus ticket).

The train ticket(s) will allow you to travel between your local railway station and your Silverstone transfer station. More advice on train tickets can be found below.

Youll also need to buy a Bus Transfer ticket to travel on the bus service to and from Silverstone. For more information on the bus timetables and prices click here.

Can I get an Advance train ticket to travel to my chosen station?

You can make your journey easier by buying your train tickets in advance.

Although combined train and bus tickets arent available for travel to this event, a full range of train tickets to and from your Silverstone transfer station, including Advance tickets when available, can be purchased before your journey. Can I use my Railcard to buy train tickets?

You can use your Railcard on train tickets, including Advance tickets, for even more savings on your journey to and from your chosen destination station. A Railcard saves up to 1/3 on rail fares across Britain and is just £35 for 1 year. Once you purchase your Railcard, you can download your card straight to your phone – it couldn’t be easier.
