Travel by Train to the British F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone

The F1 British Grand Prix at Silverstone: high-octane days, epic nights. Travel by train to a 4-day festival unlike any other, where speed meets sound, and the unbelievable becomes unforgettable

The British F1 Grand Prix at Silverstone: Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 July 2026

One of the most anticipated events on the British sporting calendar, the Formula One British Grand Prix motor racing event, will take place at the Silverstone Circuit in Northamptonshire during July. This year sees the addition of a Formula 1 Sprint race, packing in even more competitive track action.

The excitement builds from the opening on Thursday, through practice and Sprint Race qualifying on Friday, the Sprint Race and main race qualifying on Saturday and the main British Grand Prix race on Sunday. There’s also plenty of other action taking place on and off the track.

For last year’s event it was reported that the 4-day attendance at Silverstone was 500,000. With such big numbers heading for the Circuit, why not consider travelling to the event by train this year.

You can use the train to travel to and from the event

Situated in the heart of England, the Silverstone circuit is literally miles away from the nearest railway station!

But this year it’s never been easier to arrive by train, as Silverstone now offer Shuttle Bus Transfer services from the train stations listed below only (we’ve called them Silverstone transfer stations). The buses will be running on the event days from Thursday until Sunday. Book and pay for your Shuttle Bus Transfer in advance to secure the best prices.

Bus transfers to and from Silverstone are available at the following railway stations:

  • Milton Keynes Central: 50 minute approximate journey time

  • Northampton: 40 minute approximate journey time

  • Banbury: 50 minute approximate journey time

  • Coventry: 80 minute approximate journey time

  • Oxford Parkway: 45 minute approximate journey time

On arrival at the Silverstone transfer station of your choice, follow the signage to the designated shuttle buses, which drop you only 2 minutes from gates 1 or 19 at the Silverstone Circuit.

Buses leave the above Silverstone transfer stations on each of the 4 event days 30 minutes before the venue opens through to late afternoon. Buses leave the venue from early afternoon up to at least 30 minutes after the main stage activity finishes.

Which railway station should I travel to?

It’s your choice, simply select your preferred Silverstone transfer station from the above 5 options. When making your choice, you may prefer the nearest transfer station to where you live, or the cheapest transfer station to travel to, or another preference such as First Class seat availability.

You can use the National Rail journey planner to plan your travel from your local station to your preferred Silverstone transfer station. Please plan your day carefully to make sure that you don't miss your train home.

Please also be aware that the bus transfers between those stations and Silverstone only run at certain times during the day. Find transfer bus availability times (scroll down to How to Get Here and select Train).

What travel tickets do I need to buy?

You’ll need to buy train tickets to make the train journey and a Silverstone shuttle bus transfer ticket to get to and from the circuit (there isn’t a combined train and bus ticket).

The train ticket(s) will allow you to travel between your local railway station and your Silverstone transfer station. More advice on train tickets can be found below.
