New Year’s Eve Overnight Train Services From London

A number of National Rail train companies will be running additional trains after midnight on New Year’s Eve as events in London start to draw to a close

Information for any additional overnight services that will be planned to follow the end of New Year's Eve on Wednesday 31 December 2025 will be published here when confirmed.

From midnight on New Year’s Eve Wednesday 31 December 2025, into the small hours of New Year’s Day Thursday 1 January 2026, extra services will run from some central London stations so you can journey home after the night’s excitement.

The following train operators run services from London. Some of these will be running overnight services to locations in and around London, and you can find details of the extra trains below.

Avanti West Coast

No additional services. Trains will stop running earlier than normal in the evening on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday 31 December 2025.

Chiltern Railways

The following late night timetable alterations from London Marylebone apply after midnight on New Year's Eve (updated for 2025/26):

The following trains are cancelled:

  • 23:07 (Wed) London Marylebone - Birmingham Moor Street

  • 00:01 London Marylebone - Oxford

  • 00:05 London Marylebone - Banbury

  • 00:10 London Marylebone - Aylesbury (via High Wycombe)

The following late night additional trains will operate:

  • 00:30 London Marylebone - Aylesbury (via High Wycombe)

  • 00:45 London Marylebone - Oxford

  • 00:50 London Marylebone - Banbury

  • 01:10 London Marylebone - Aylesbury (via High Wycombe)

  • 01:45 London Marylebone - Oxford

  • 01:50 London Marylebone - Banbury

  • 02:00 London Marylebone - Aylesbury (via High Wycombe)

East Midlands Railway

No additional services have been announced.

Elizabeth line

Following the celebrations on New Year's Eve, there will be extra trains running in the early hours of New Year's Day (updated for 2025/26):

  • 4 trains per hour will operate between Shenfield and Hayes & Harlington

  • 2 trains per hour will operate between Abbey Wood and Maidenhead

  • 2 trains per hour will operate between Abbey Wood and Reading

Gatwick Express

No additional services have been announced.

Great Northern

Please ensure you plan your journey in advance on New Year's Eve, as there will be very few Great Northern trains running after midnight. Train times are available in the National Rail Enquiries real-time Journey Planner.

Great Western Railway (GWR)

No additional services. On most routes, trains will stop running earlier than normal in the evening on New Year’s Eve, 31 December 2025.

Greater Anglia

No additional overnight trains have been announced.

Heathrow Express

No additional overnight trains have been announced.

London North Eastern Railway (LNER)

No additional services. Trains will stop running earlier than normal on New Year’s Eve 2025.

London Northwestern Railway

Services are scheduled to run from London Euston to Milton Keynes Central until the last departure at 01:39 (updated for 2025/26).

London Overground

London Overground will operate trains on the following Mildmay, Weaver and Windrush line routes all night from New Year's Eve into New Year's Day (updated for 2025/26):

  • Clapham Junction - Shepherds Bush

  • Willesden Junction - Stratford via Queens Park and Camden Road

  • Highbury & Islington - West Croydon

  • Highbury & Islington - Crystal Palace

  • Enfield Town - London Fields

  • Chingford - London Fields

  • Cheshunt - London Fields

South Western Railway

A limited number of additional services will run from London Waterloo in the early hours of New Year’s Day for customers returning from festivities in London. The following additional services will run from London Waterloo after midnight (updated for 2025/26):

  • 01:20, 02:25 and 02:55 to Twickenham via Wimbledon

  • 01:35, 02:10 and 03:10 to Basingstoke (stopping)

  • 01:45, 02:45, 03:45 and 04:45 to Guildford via Woking

  • 03:55 and 04:25 to Twickenham via Kingston
