New Year’s Eve Overnight Train Services From London
A number of National Rail train companies will be running additional trains after midnight on New Year’s Eve as events in London start to draw to a close

From midnight on New Year’s Eve Wednesday 31 December 2025, into the small hours of New Year’s Day Thursday 1 January 2026, extra services will run from some central London stations so you can journey home after the night’s excitement.
You can check whether trains will run on your route home by checking your train company information in the list below.
As late notice and last minute updates to the information on this page may be made, please continue to check that your journey remains possible, right up until the big night, using the National Rail Journey Planner below.
The following train operators run services from London. Some of these will be running overnight services to locations in and around London, and you can find details of the extra trains below.
Avanti West Coast
No additional services. Trains will stop running earlier than normal in the evening on New Year’s Eve, Wednesday 31 December 2025.

The following late night timetable alterations from London Marylebone apply after midnight on New Year's Eve:

No additional services have been announced.
Elizabeth line
Following the celebrations on New Year's Eve, there will be extra trains running in the early hours of New Year's Day:
4 trains per hour will operate between Shenfield and Hayes & Harlington
2 trains per hour will operate between Abbey Wood and Maidenhead
2 trains per hour will operate between Abbey Wood and Reading
Gatwick Express
No additional services have been announced.
Great Northern
No additional overnight trains have been announced.
Great Western Railway (GWR)
No additional services. On most routes, trains will stop running earlier than normal in the evening on New Year’s Eve, 31 December 2025.
Greater Anglia
No additional overnight trains have been announced.
Heathrow Express
No additional overnight trains have been announced.
London North Eastern Railway (LNER)
No additional services. Trains will stop running earlier than normal on New Year’s Eve 2025.
London Northwestern Railway
Services are scheduled to run from London Euston to Milton Keynes Central until the last departure at 01:39.
London Overground
London Overground will operate trains on the following Mildmay, Weaver and Windrush line routes all night from New Year's Eve into New Year's Day:
Clapham Junction - Shepherds Bush
Willesden Junction - Stratford via Queens Park and Camden Road
Highbury & Islington - West Croydon
Highbury & Islington - Crystal Palace
Enfield Town - London Fields
Chingford - London Fields
Cheshunt - London Fields
South Western Railway
A limited number of additional services will run from London Waterloo in the early hours of New Year’s Day for customers returning from festivities in London. The following additional services will run from London Waterloo after midnight:
01:20, 02:25 and 02:55 to Twickenham via Wimbledon
01:35, 02:10 and 03:10 to Basingstoke (stopping)
01:45, 02:45, 03:45 and 04:45 to Guildford via Woking
03:55 and 04:25 to Twickenham via Kingston
Southeastern
Additional late-night trains will run from London Charing Cross, London Cannon Street and London Bridge after midnight.
London Waterloo East station will be closed from 23:45 on New Year's Eve.
Southern
No additional overnight trains have been announced.
Stansted Express
No additional overnight trains have been announced.
Thameslink
No additional overnight trains have been announced.
London Blackfriars station will become exit only from 20:30, with no trains calling at the station after 23:30 for safety reasons. Thameslink services will resume calling at the station from 02:00 (in the early hours of 1 January)
No Thameslink trains will call at Farringdon station after approximately 00:30 (Wednesday night - Thursday morning)

As well as the National Rail services listed above, TfL services will be running throughout the night on New Year's Eve.
