What to do in Winchester

If you’re looking to lose yourself in time, Winchester wears its heritage proudly. Wander through cobbled streets and take in the beautiful buildings of architectural and historic interests like the iconic Winchester Cathedral or Jane Austen’s place in her final years, while conveniently being around a number of modern shops and amenities.

The largest cathedral in Europe, Winchester Cathedral contains over 1000 years of history in its walls. While there are a number of treasures and artworks to explore it is also the final resting place of ancient royalty and key figures in British history.

Winchester was also home to novelist Jane Austen for the last 8 years of her life. ‘Jane Austen’s House’ is now a Grade I listed building and a museum commemorating her life and her achievements.

Despite being a town of heritage and tradition, in addition to traditional English and pub fare, Winchester offers a very diverse selection of cuisines ranging from well-known chain eateries to more contemporary fine dining bars and restaurants to suit all tastes and budgets.
