What to do in Chester

Founded as a Roman fortress, the walls in which the city is encased in are one of the best-preserved in Britain. The City Walls were built by the Romans around 70AD. Despite changes to the wall over the centuries, they have stayed in place since the 1200s.

Close to a number of places of interest, following the wall is a great way to see different sites around the town. With a number of medieval buildings, alongside Victorian and Tudor architecture, Chester is a truly charming town steeped in history and can be easily explored by foot.

Shopping is a great experience especially at The Rows in Chester Cross, a uniquely designed series of double-decker style raised storefronts. With the earliest record of the buildings dating back to the 11th and 12th centuries, The Rows have withstood the test of time and are now home to a series of both independent and well-known retailers.

Chester Cathedral is a beautiful national treasure welcoming those who wish to attend a service or explore the cathedral. The nature gardens are well worth visiting and feature daily flying displays from the cathedral Falconry, where you can get up close to beautiful birds of prey.
