Nestled inside the loop of the River Severn, this beautiful Tudor town still maintains most of its street plan from the Medieval period. With over 660 listed buildings with many retaining the original timber from the 15th and 16th century.

Shrewsbury Castle is right by the station and is home to the Shropshire Regimental Museum where you can find a collection of historical military paraphernalia dating back to the 18th century to the present day.

Made in Shropshire market every 2nd Saturday of the month showcasing and supporting produce, arts and crafts by the locals.

If you’re into a bit of dark history, Shrewsbury Prison has plenty within its cells. Built in the 18th century, you can explore the wings and cells of the prison, get a glimpse of the day-to-day life of an inmate and learn the grim details of how executions were handled.

If you’re blessed with good weather on your visit, there are plenty of green spaces to wander around in. The Quarry is a beautiful 29-acre park by the River Severn and is perfect for a relaxed day outdoors.
