Description

Engineering work is taking place near Wendover, between Great Missenden and Aylesbury, on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 December. Background information on this work can be found below.

There will also be service changes due to the major West Coast Main Line engineering work between Milton Keynes Central and Rugby / Northampton.

As a result, Chiltern Railways will operate the following service:

Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 December

  • An increased / enhanced service will operate between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone

  • No trains will run between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and London Marylebone via Amersham

Replacement buses will run between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham.

Monday 29 December to Friday 2 January

  • An increased / enhanced service will operate between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone

  • No trains will run between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and London Marylebone via Amersham

A shuttle train service will run between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham.

Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 January

  • An increased / enhanced service will operate between Birmingham Moor Street and London Marylebone

  • No trains will run between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and London Marylebone via Amersham

Replacement buses will run between Aylesbury Vale Parkway and Amersham.

Ticket acceptance:

You can use London Underground Metropolitan line services between Amersham and Baker Street at no extra cost from Saturday 27 December to Sunday 4 January.

Background information:

HS2 are continuing their work to build the striking 345 metre long Small Dean Viaduct above the existing Chiltern Railways line in Wendover, Buckinghamshire. As a result, the railway line through Wendover will be closed on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 December to allow the installation of parapets on the viaduct and to complete the backfill to one of the viaduct piers.
