Great Western Railway between London Paddington / Bristol Parkway and Swansea, and also between London Paddington and Carmarthen

Transport for Wales between Manchester Piccadilly and Swansea / Carmarthen / Milford Haven, between Shrewsbury and Cardiff Central / Swansea, between Hereford and Carmarthen, between Newport (South Wales) and Milford Haven, and also between Cardiff Central and Maesteg / Swansea / Carmarthen / Milford Haven / Fishguard Harbour

Description

Engineering work is taking place between Cardiff Central and Bridgend, closing all lines via Pontyclun.

Great Western Railway

No trains will run between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Pontyclun.

Trains to / from Swansea will run to an amended timetable and retimed up to 30 minutes earlier than usual and diverted to run between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Barry / Llantwit Major (not calling).

Transport for Wales

Trains will not run between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Pontyclun.

An amended and reduced train service will run between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Barry, with extended journey times.

Replacement buses will run between Cardiff Central and Bridgend via Pontyclun.

On Saturday, these diversions will affect trains that usually run to / from Penarth, and to / from / via Barry:

  • 2 trains per hour will operate between Cardiff Central and Barry Island

  • 2 trains per hour will operate between Coryton and Penarth

  • Trains between Caerphilly and Penarth will not run

  • 4 trains per hour will operate between Cardiff Central and Rhymney / Bargoed, with some trains being retimed

  • 1 train per hour will operate between Cardiff Central and Bridgend, calling at Barry, Rhoose Cardiff International Airport, Llantwit Major and Bridgend only. Every two hours, these train services will extend to run to / from Swansea

  • Trains between Maesteg and Cardiff Central will only run between Maesteg and Bridgend
