Description

Major engineering work is taking place between Northallerton and Newcastle, closing the East Coast Main Line between these stations all weekend (see background information below).

CrossCountry:

Buses will replace trains between York and Newcastle.

Grand Central:

Saturday

A reduced train service will operate between London Kings Cross and Bradford Interchange / Sunderland. Some trains will start / terminate at York instead of Sunderland.

Sunday

A reduced train service will operate between London Kings Cross and Sunderland. Some trains will start / terminate at York instead of Sunderland.

LNER:

A reduced service of one train per hour will run in each direction between London Kings Cross and Newcastle on a diversionary route between York and Newcastle. Journey times will be extended by up to one hour.

All other services will start / terminate at York and Newcastle.

Rail replacement buses will run between York and Newcastle.

Lumo:

No services will run between London Kings Cross and Newcastle all weekend. A reduced and amended timetable will run between Newcastle and Edinburgh only.

Northern:

Trains between Saltburn / Middlesbrough and Darlington / Bishop Auckland will start / terminate at Eaglescliffe.

Rail replacement buses will run between Eaglescliffe and Darlington / Bishop Auckland.

In addition, services running via Durham and Chester-le-Street will be diverted via an alternative route and will not call at stations via Durham and Chester-le-Street.

Buses will be provided between Middlesbrough and Newcastle to serve these stations.

TransPennine Express:

Buses replace trains between York and Newcastle.

Background Information:

Over a period of 6 consecutive weekends, the East Coast Main Line will be closed between Northallerton and Newcastle in both directions.

This will allow major track improvements, bridge works and Darlington station upgrade work to be carried out.
