Background Information on this Project:
The track south of Sheffield towards Dore & Totley and Chesterfield dates back to before 1976, and as such, currently requires a large amount of maintenance.
Over five days Network Rail will be carrying out major engineering works. This round-the-clock track renewal project will refresh a 2.7km stretch of the route with new rails, sleepers and ballast.
The work will provide the immediate benefit of smoother journeys and a reduction in noise disruption in the area. Longer term, it will avoid the need for a speed restriction or greater passenger disruption. More information can be found on the Network Rail website.
