All Great Western Railway services to / from / via Newbury

Description

Engineering work is taking place between Reading and Newbury, closing all lines.

Long distance trains:

Trains that usually run via Newbury will be diverted, and will either run between:

  • Reading and Westbury (via Swindon / Westbury / Castle Cary, some trains will additionally call at these stations)

  • Reading and Taunton (via Bristol Temple Meads, trains from London Paddington pick up here only, and trains towards London Paddington drop off here only)

No direct trains will run between London Paddington and Paignton, you should change at Newton Abbot / Exeter St Davids instead.

For Hungerford / Newbury, you should travel via Reading and the replacement buses (see below).

Local trains:

No trains will run between Reading and Newbury. An amended shuttle train service will run between Newbury and Bedwyn, connecting with replacement buses at Newbury.

Replacement buses will run between Reading and Newbury, with a mixture of buses calling at:

  • Reading West, Theale and Thatcham only

  • All stations between Reading and Newbury

Replacement buses will also run between Swindon and Pewsey.

Additionally, to accommodate diverted trains to / from London Paddington, the following trains will be amended:

  • 10:41 Westbury to Swindon will depart earlier at 10:15, operating earlier than normal throughout

  • 14:05 Frome to Swindon will depart earlier at 14:01, operating earlier than normal throughout

  • 11:32 Swindon to Weymouth will depart 11:42, operating later than normal throughout

  • 13:32 Swindon to Weymouth will depart 13:35, operating later than normal to Castle Cary, then as normal
